Romans Road Ministry Statement of Faith

The Holy Scriptures - We believe the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed, the final authority for faith and life
We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit),co-eternal in being, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.

JESUS -  Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

THE HOLY SPIRIT - The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.

THE FALLEN MAN - We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature and became separated from God, and of himself is totally unable to remedy his lost condition.

SALVATION - We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. We can never make up for our sin by self improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin's penalty.

ETERNAL SECURITY - Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security. Humans were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
We believe that Christ-followers should manifest authenticity and yearn for continuous growth.
We believe that a church should operate as a unified community of servants with men and women stewarding their spiritual gifts. This includes the concepts of unity, servant hood, spiritual gifts and ministry callings.

THE HOLY SPIRIT - is sovereign in the bestowment of His gifts and no gift, such as tongues, was ever intended to be bestowed on every Christian, but rather the gifts vary . We further believe that certain gifts are intended to serve as signs of God’s power (such as tongues, healings, or other miracles) and are graciously bestowed by the Holy Spirit when and where He wills. They cannot be “claimed” from God by believers and should never be sought merely for personal benefit.

THE RAPTURE - of the Church is imminent and pretribulational. This means that Christ will return in the air to catch out His Church to Himself before the seven-year tribulation period. The return of Christ to the earth immediately following the tribulation is premillennial. This means He will at that time establish a literal 1000 year kingdom of righteousness and peace upon the earth.

WHAT DEFINES ROMANS ROAD - Because we are a collection of diverse individuals, we all have slightly different values with regard to how we go about serving Christ.  Yet certain common values unify our efforts and define our distinctives.
We believe that anointed teaching through ministry and discipleship is the catalyst for transformation in individual’s lives as well as being part of a bible teaching church. This includes the concept of teaching for life change
We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore, ought to matter to the church. This includes the concept of relational evangelism and evangelism as a process.

As members of Romans Road, we hereby acknowledge that our participation has established and elevated our position from church lay-member to that of music minister.
Having been inducted into this position by the will of God, we recognize the significance of our appointed spiritual leadership and communal responsibility both as a servant to His church and ambassador to the surrounding community.
